Abstract: Alla specie Yersinia enterocolitica appartengono microrganismi distribuiti nell'ecosistema acquatico e terrestre, la maggior parte dei quali sono considerati apatogeni e ubiquitari. Solo alcuni stipiti, provvisti di meccanismi di virulenza, sono patogeni per l'uomo, che generalmente contrae l'infezione mediante l'ingestione di acqua e alimenti contaminati.
