The role of patient advocacy in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: The 25-year journey of the HCMA

Abstract: Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy have clinical, logistical, and emotional needs that had previously lacked attention and a coordinated approach. The United States-based HCMA recognized Center of Excellence model coupled with strong patient education, support and advocacy services can serve as a model for other nations. Patients benefit from peer support and high-volume HCM care.
