“…Besides, the study group were older and had only 2 bilateral cases while the control had 9 (60%) bilateral cases and presented at a younger age. A pubmed search showed 6 more publications (2 case reports and 4 retrospective case series) reporting benefit with the use of mitomycin C in choanal atresia [23,24,[27][28][29][30]. A review of all these publications showed that there was no statistical measures applied to test the significance of the observed benefits and the recent conversion of many to the use of mitomycin C in choanal atresia may not be evidence based.…”

“…Adding very little time to the operation and no complications, mitomycin treatment inhibits fibroblast growth and migration and allows for healing with decreased scar formation. The efficacy of topical mitomycin is reported in different studies [6,7,[22][23][24] from various clinics. As a conclusion they reported that mitomycin not only improves the patency but also decreases the need for dilatations and revision surgery.…”

“…Mitomycin C is an antineoplastic agent that inhibits fibroblast proliferation, reduces collagen cross-linking, and has been proven to be effective in reducing scar in animal experiments [2]. It is increasingly being used for the management of laryngotracheal stenosis with encouraging results [3]. We present a case of the use of MMC in the management of caustic esophageal strictures in a toddler.…”
