The role of mediator complex subunit 19 in human diseases

Abstract: Mediator is an evolutionarily conserved multi-protein complex that mediates the interaction between different proteins as a basic linker in the transcription mechanism of eukaryotes. It interacts with RNA polymerase II and participates in the process of gene expression. Mediator complex subunit 19 or regulation by oxygen 3, or lung cancer metastasis-related protein 1 is located at the head of the mediator complex; it is a multi-protein co-activator that induces the transcription of RNA polymerase II by DNA tra… Show more

“…4d , e and 5c, d ). MED19 is a subunit of Mediator complex that plays critical role during transcription control 42 while MMACHC is postulated to be involved in cobalamin (vitamin B12) trafficking 43 . In parallel, we also derived oxaliplatin-resistant HCT116 cells and irinotecan-resistant DLD1 cells by gradual drug adaptation and “randomly” clonal selection, which took around three months to achieve a comparable resistance level to that of the above specific gene-derived resistant lines (Fig.…”

“…The mediator complex (MED) gene family forms a multiprotein complex that connects transcription factors to RNA polymerase II, which extensively participates in the proliferation, differentiation and migration of cells ( 6 ). Notably, the MED is a protein complex that has evolved to mediate specific protein-protein interactions (PPIs) ( 7 ).…”
