“…Vulnerability to schizophrenia has been correlated to volume reductions in several brain areas: amygdala, hippocampus and prefrontal cortex (PFC) (Yuii et al, 2007). This is not surprising, since the limbic system is primarily associated with the regulation of emotion and arousal, and is also responsible for integrating the internal and external environments via its wide connections with the neocortex (Anand, 2005), as well as with the autonomic (Amann and Constantinescu, 1990), and endocrine (Mason et al, 1961) systems.
