“…Subjective evaluation by patients (excellent/good/fair/poor) found a ''good'' or ''excellent'' rating in 89%; complication of ulceration at the injection site occurred in only 1 patient, resulting in subsequent scarring. 6 Zhi et al 19 reported 82 patients with craniofacial VM treated by pingyangmycin injection: 81.7% had 76% to 100% regression, 14.6% had 51% to 75% regression, and 3 patients (3.7%) required surgical excision of their residual lesions. Minor complications of a 24-to 48-hour fever (3.7%) and local swelling lasting 1 to 2 weeks (6.1%) were noted but did not require treatment.…”

“…Moreover, although haemangiomas and vascular malformations are two pathologically separate entities, the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used were identical, as were the healing phases after treatment (16,17). For these reasons, this paper generally refers to both haemangiomas and vascular malformations simply as vascular lesions.…”

“…The status of drainage in venous malformation provides important information for selection of different sclerosing agents: for low-drainage venous malformations, intralesional injection of Pinyangmycin (bleomycin A5) at a concentration of 1.5 to 2.0 mg/mL is sufficient to achieve the best results. 22 The maximum dose per injection of Pingyangmycin is 8 mg. The mechanism involves direct destruction of the endothelial cell, inflammatory reaction, formation of a thrombus and fibrosis leading to obstruction of the vessels, and shrinkage of the lesions.…”
