The Role Of IGF-I in Females Selected for Assisted Reproductive Technique (Art)

Abstract: Objective: To assess the role of Insulin growth factor-I (IGF-I) in females selected for assisted reproductive technique (ART).Methods: In this cross-sectional study 133 infertile females were recruited for Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The antral follicle count (AFC), pre-ovulatory follicle count (PFC), total doses of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) were estimated. IGF was measured. Successful pregnancy conception afterICSI was confirmed by an intrauterine gestational sac with cardiac activity a… Show more

“…Ligand-dependent internalization of receptor has been suggested as the cause of resistance to IGF-1 (24). The present study showed an inverse relationship between the serum IGF-1 levels on day Some studies showed that the level of IGF-1 in the follicular fluid is directly related to the embryo quality and the pregnancy rate (6,21,22).…”

“…Many of these patients need assisted reproductive techniques (ART) (1). One of the suggestions to improve ART outcomes, especially in poor responders (5-35% of ART cycles) (2)(3)(4), is individualized ovarian stimulation (5,6) that needs efficient and reliable indicators. An ideal dynamic indicator shows the effect of pretreatment and adjuvant therapy on the metabolic environment of oocytes and can improve ART outcomes (7).…”

“…Medical conditions such as uterine fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, premature ovarian failure, and environmental factors can all contribute to this dysfunction [ 3 ]. Poor semen quality is the main cause of male infertility [ 4 ], while ovulation issues, tubal obstruction, age-related factors, uterine issues, prior tubal ligation, and hormone imbalances can lead to female infertility [ 5 ]. The mechanisms by which multivariate factors affect female fertility are still not well understood.…”
