“… Dolatian (2020:83) reports that for some endocentric compounds, we do find schwa prothesis and vowel hiatus: <sk-a-zkesd> → [sə.kʰɑ.əs.kest] 'mourning dress'. This seems like a recent and slowly emerging pattern which he analyzes by arguing that the head of endocentric compounds forms a separate prosodic constituent, i.e., a prosodic stem(Downing 1999;Dolatian 2021b).
