Abstract:Species within the spore-forming Bacillus cereus sensu lato group are recognized for their role in food spoilage and food poisoning. B. cereus spores are decorated with numerous pilus-like appendages, called S-ENAs and L-ENAs. These appendages are believed to play crucial roles in self-aggregation, adhesion, and biofilm formation. By using both bulk and single-cell approaches, we investigate the role of S- and L-ENAs as well as the impact of different environmental factors in spore-to-spore contacts and in the… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
