Emotional intelligence (EI) as the ability for self-analysis, self-motivation, and self-regulation is necessary in the process of financial activity. It ensures informed decision-making, considering consequences and perspectives. The aim is to identify the influence of emotional intelligence on the effectiveness of decision-making by financiers. The following tests were used: EQ (Emotional/Empathy Quotient) test, Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire, the Rathus Assertiveness Schedule, the Schubert Risk Propensity Test. Statistical processing of the results included the use of descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis. The study found that financial workers with a high level of emotional intelligence have a pronounced “vigilance” decision-making style (F=113.4, p≤0.01), high assertiveness (F=103.3, p≤0.01), and risk propensity (F=137.3, p≤0.01). It was proved that emotional intelligence explains the “vigilance” decision-making style (β=0.943, R²=0.572), risk propensity (β=0.896, R²=0.424) and explains 48% of assertiveness (β=0.945, R²=0.483). It was confirmed that emotional intelligence is a predictor of successful financial decisions, it determines high assertiveness, vigilance, and risk propensity. Such results are useful for the development of training and retraining programmes for financiers. At the same time, including the development of assertiveness and risk propensity in professional and corporate training in parallel with the development of EI will give greater chances for the success of financial decisions. The obtained results are important for the financial and economic sphere, as they prove the effectiveness of EI in decision-making. This contributes to the improvement of the system of training competitive financiers and allows to expand aspects of the study of financial success.

ObjectivesThe aim of the article is to present the results of research and observations related to the phenomenon of vigilantism in the context of military operations in Ukraine.MethodsTheoretical research methods were used, such as desk research and literature study. Additionally, monitoring particular causes in Worldwide media has been carried out.ResultsIn the first months of 2022, during the ongoing Russo–Ukrainian war, an “unusual” phenomenon was observed on social media, namely the wrapping of suspected lawbreakers (e.g., marauders and petty thieves) with plastic wrap to structures, such as utility poles. In some cases, such individuals were whipped, chastised, sometimes even left naked and exposed to the elements, and open to mistreatment by passers-by. This raw form of wartime justice is loosely referred to in this article as “plastic wrap civil justice”, and is interpreted as a form of vigilantism. Several examples are provided in the context of the wider literature on vigilantism in times of war.ConclusionsIt is concluded that neither the specific phenomenon of “plastic wrap civil justice”, nor vigilantism more broadly, can provide a sustainable path to peace, civil security and a law-abiding society. In times of war, especially where social equilibrium is at risk and where conventional justice infrastructure, like policing, has broken down, some may take it upon themselves to implement their own form of justice, or vigilantism, in order to restore it. Although not a legally recognized form of justice, vigilantism may reduce crime. However, it introduces a parallel form of justice that may leave fellow citizens vulnerable.

Compliance with the NATO Standards in the Field of Psychological Assistance for the Servicemen with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

The increasing number of the servicemen with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the war raises the problem of providing them with psychological assistance among the top priorities at the national level. The aim of the study is to identify the effectiveness of using NATO standards in the system of psychological assistance to the servicemen with PTSD. Methods: The study employed the Mississippi Scale, Impact of Event Scale (IES-R), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The statistics were processed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, Student’s t-test for independent samples. Results: The study showed that 20.28% of the servicemen had a high level of PTSD. They have pronounced symptoms of intrusion, avoidance, hyperarousal, high anxiety, and depression. It was established that the use of NATO standards of psychological assistance to the servicemen with PTSD is reliably effective in reducing symptoms of intrusion (t=2.53, p≤0.01), avoidance (t=3.22, p≤0.01), excitability (t =4.18, p≤0.01), anxiety (t=4.56, p≤0.01), and depression (t=3.87, p≤0.01).Conclusions. The problem of the occurrence of PTSD and symptoms of the disorder among the servicemen participating in military operations was confirmed. It was proved that the use of NATO standards in the training and psychological assistance to service men is effective in reducing the PTSD level and its symptoms. Prospects: The obtained results are significant for military psychologists who work directly with the servicemen in warfare and can use the obtained data for early intervention to prevent the occurrence of PTSD.
