“…Using the same 3D virtual RA cast, in RA emptying fractions or strains could be detected. These alterations were present without any clinical signs of right heart involvement in HES and NCCM suggesting subclinical changes (5,6). As expected CA and cTOF were associated with more severe alterations: reductions in RA emptying fractions (TAEF and AAEF) with preserved stroke volumes and impairment of RA strains featuring both systolic reservoir and late-diastolic booster pump functions could be detected (7,8).…”

“…or in top-level athletes [12]. 3DSTE-derived RA strains and their specific patterns [8] could be seen in specific disorders like in corrected tetralogy of Fallot [4], noncompaction cardiomyopathy [5], idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome [6] and cardiac amyloidosis [7]. Reference values of RA-LS imaging by 2DSTE were also demonstrated [13].…”

“…RA strains show obvious sex dependency, which could not be confirmed in LA strains [62] , [63] . However, further studies are needed to confirm these findings and further assess RA strains in different pathological conditions [55] , [56] , [57] , [58] , [59] .…”

“…Therefore, single segmental strain measurements should be used only with great caution [54] . More recently, the usefulness of 3DSTE in assessing RA unidirectional, multidirectional as well as areal strain has been demonstrated [55] , [56] , [57] , [58] , [59] .…”
