“…MMP-9 is a proteolytic enzyme that activates inflammatory mediators and cells in the lung and increases the permeability of pulmonary capillaries, which leads to pneumonedema (14). The total score of MMSE is 30 points and less than 23 points are regarded as cognitive dysfunction (15). Propofol is the most widely used intravenous anesthesia in clinical surgical treatment and has the function of antioxidation and inhibition of inflammation.…”

“…Our data demonstrated that the risk of PPCs in patients with BMI ≥24.0 kg/m 2 was higher than in patients with BMI <24.0 kg/m 2 (OR 1.514, 95% CI 1.057–2.167, P =0.024) (Table 4). Obese patients often have reduced lung volume, altered ventilation pattern, and comorbid conditions, which are risk factors for intra-and postoperative complications 13,14. Being overweight is an important influencing factor on pre- and postoperative immune function 15.…”

“…Durante a avaliação pré-operatória desses pacientes, é recomendada a busca de sinais e sintomas de comprometimento pulmonar, pois complicações pulmonares pós-operatórias são bastante frequentes 250 . A exposição prévia a alguns quimioterápicos ou à radioterapia são fatores de risco para complicações pulmonares perioperatórias 250 .…”
