The response of thermoluminescence dosimeters to fast (14.7 MeV) and thermal neutrons

Abstract: The response of common TLD materials has been measured in a 14-7 MeV neutron field with a small and well known gamma component. Values for the thermal neutron response of some TLD materials with low thermal neutron sensitivity have been determined in the NPL standard thermal flux facility.

“…Other direct spinal-habenula connections, where spinal lamina I injections of the anterograde tracer Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin (PHA-L) in the cat terminate in the lateral habenula, have also been reported (Craig 2003). Thus the data replicate connectivity in humans previously shown in animals, where IPn-habenula (Kuan et al 2007;Qin and Luo 2009;Rossiter et al 1977), RN-habenula (Araki et al 1988), Hypo-habenula (Goto et al 2005, etc. have been described (Bianco and Wilson 2009).…”

“…However, since the effect of the neutron dose is small, the relatively large systematic errors that have to be assumed in these calculations should not invalidate the results. Thus, the total (fast + thermal) neutron dose is computed according to the following formula: [16] 0.57 [17] 0.58 [18] 0.51 [19] 0.57 ± 7.4% 0.29 ± 13.8% [16] OSLD (Al2O3: C) 0.35 ± 0.03 [16] 0.35 ± 10%* 0.24 ± 25%* *For OSLD, in a first approach, thermal neutron response factors and neutron efficiency relative to 60 Co have been chosen identical to those of TLD-500 (Al 2 O 3 : C), with large uncertainties. Al 2 O 3 -based detectors are less sensitive to neutrons than TLD-400.…”
