Abstract:The release of histamine from rat peritoneal mast cells induced by α-chymotrypsin and that induced by antigen have characteristics in common. The kinetics of histamine release initiated by the two agents are similar. Both α-chymotrypsin and antigen release histamine in the absence of extracellular calcium, phosphatidyl serine enhances the release, and disodium cromoglycate inhibits both reactions. In contrast, extracellular α-chymotrypsin does not induce histamine release from cells isolated from fragments of … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
