The relationship of a type of Mycoplasma isolated from tissue cultures to a new human oral Mycoplasma

Abstract

A previously unidentified type of Mycoplasma found as a contaminant in tissue cultures and in a culture of Eaton agent, is identical with a newly recognized human oral type.I am indebted to Drs Herdersheê and Chanock for sending me their cultures and relevant information.

A Serological Comparison of Various Species of Mycoplasma by an Agar Gel Double-Diffusion Technique

“…The similarity of certain tissue culture contaminants isolated by Hayflick to a new oral type (Herdersche6, Ruys & van Rhijn, 1963) was reported previously (Lemcke, 1964b E) and from the human throat (strains s, BM, 898/2) were closely similar, the only difference being in the intensity of the precipitation band nearest the antigen wells. This may have been due to the better preservation of a labile antigenic component in some suspensions than in others or it may have reflected differences in the amount of a particular antigen present in different strains.…”

Mycoplasma Species of Man

Xhnlieh wie andere Autoren fanden aueh wir Myeoplasma hominis Typ 1 am hgufigsten (1, 9, 10, 12, 16, 19, 23) und etwas weniger h~ufig Mycoplasma orale Typ 1(16,19,23,26,27,44). Lediglich in dem Gewebekulturlaboratorium J konnte sowohl Myeoplasma hominis Typ 1 wie auch Mycoplasma orale Typ 1 isoliert werden.…”
