The relationship between pregnancy and oxidative stress markers on patients undergoing ovarian stimulations

Abstract: Ovarian stimulation causes a significant increase in serum PON1, SOD, GPx and IL-6 activity in women undergoing IVF or IUI. The high levels of IL-6, SOD, and PON1 and lower levels of palmitic, and stearic acids in the pregnancy positive group indicate that these oxidative stress and nutritional factors may be used as a predictive marker in controlled ovarian stimulation success.

“…SOD activity was in FF higher than in serum [33]. In prospective cohort study by Younis et al,in patients including PCOS, endometriosis and unexplained infertility, antioxidant enzyme's activities were measured [34]. There was statistically difference between pregnancy positive group and pregnancy negative group according to serum SOD activities.…”

“…Interestingly, pregnancy negative infertile woman who never conceived had lower PON activity than women who became pregnant but OH increased PON activity promoting a favorable environment for implantation [20]. Our patient exhibited a 57% reduction of PON activity partly due to her homozygous PON G192A mutation and partly to her aPL favoring infertility and her PON activity could not rise after OH because of the same reasons.…”

“…This polymorphism also was not included in the final version of the test panel due to lack of information about its role in the development of a number of multifactorial diseases such as female infertility, metabolic syndrome, vascular disorders. It is also not described methods compensatory treatment of conditions caused by decreased activity of paraoxonase especially in IVF [87]. It is seems to be better approach the appointment of testing SNP of detoxification system genes individually to women exposed to the adverse effects of the environment, having contact with toxic substances, kept smoking.…”
