“…More importantly, the authors detected that PLR was an independent predictor of postoperative stroke after CEA. Bas et al 5 analyzed the effects of PLR and NLR on prognosis during one-year follow-up period after CEA. A total of 250 patients undergoing CEA were divided into two groups according to the occurrence of mortality during the follow-up, and the groups were compared with each other.…”

“…It was indicated that the aforementioned indices may be useful as prognostic biomarkers since they are associated with inflammation, thrombogenic activity, atherosclerotic processes, and subsequent plaque rupture. 4,5 Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a newly developed marker that emerges based on platelet count and NLR (SII = platelet count × neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio) obtained from a CBC test and shows simultaneous immune and inflammatory status of patients. Elevated levels of SII were revealed to be associated with poor prognosis and reduction in life expectancy, and this novel index was demonstrated as a significant prognostic indicator in different types of cancer.…”
