The relationship between hematological parameters and prognosis of children with acute ischemic stroke

Abstract: The values of WBC, neutrophil count, and N/L ratio differ significantly from those of the control group. The WBC and N/L ratio may help for an earlier diagnosis in children with acute ischemic stroke. WBC, thrombocyte count, MPV, PDW, and N/L ratio do not constitute a risk in overall survival, disease-free survival, and sequelae development.

“…However, the value of NLR in predicting the poor prognosis of stroke patients is still controversial. Some studies showed that NLR had no obvious effect on mortality (9,10), while some studies demonstrated that a high NLR was an independent predictor of poor clinical outcomes in patients with stroke (11,12). Thus, the aim of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to clear the relationship between NLR and the prognosis in patients with stroke.…”

“…Additionally, they noted that WBC and N/L ratio could be helpful for an earlier diagnosis with acute ischemic stroke especially in children. 29 Based on our data, cardiac ejection fraction ratio was decreased non-significantly in WUS patients. As above-mentioned, cardiovascular disorders history have a critical role in ischemic stroke occurrence.…”

“…Yılmaz et al (12) reported the relationship between prognosis and hematological parameters of children with acute ischemic stroke. The values of white blood cell count and NLR differed significantly in ischemic stroke from those of the control group in their study.…”
