Background: Malaria case management remains a crucial component of malaria control strategies. Despite the introduction of national malaria treatment guidelines and scale-up of malaria control interventions in Nigeria, shreds of evidence have shown some deviations from the guidelines in malaria case management. This study assessed compliance with national guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of malaria among health workers in Anambra State. Materials and Methods: This comparative, cross-sectional hospital-based study was carried out among 360 healthcare workers selected from six Local Government Areas using a multistage sampling technique. A pre-tested interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data on their socio-demographics and other vital information. Results: The findings of this study revealed that Ninety-eight respondents (54.4%) from public health facilities had adequate knowledge of malaria case management compared to 67 respondents (37.2%) from private health facilities (p=0.001). The overall level of compliance with the national guidelines shows that only 22.2% of the health workers interviewed strictly complied with the national guidelines. It was significantly higher among public healthcare workers (31.7%) compared to 12.8% of private health workers (p<0.001). Training on malaria case management, access to national guidelines, availability of malaria diagnostic tools, and sex of the health workers were associated with compliance with national guidelines in both public and private health facilities (p<0.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study revealed a close similarity between the two health facilities in the level of awareness of the national malaria treatment guidelines, but a remarkable difference in compliance to appropriate case management of malaria between public and private health facilities. Interventions to improve private sector engagement in the implementation of the guidelines, training, and supply of recommended anti-malarial medicines should be intensified.

A descriptive study entitled to identify the prevalence of minor ailments and treatment seeking behavior among the mother of under five children in the selected immunization clinic of Kolkata, West Bengal. Objective of the study was to find out the occurrence of selected minor ailments of under five children and treatment seeking behavior among mother. The investigator adopted descriptive survey research approach with descriptive survey research design. She selected 100 mothers of under five children by convenient sampling technique. Data were collected with valid and reliable semi-structure interview schedule. The findings of the study revealed that Occurrence of the minor ailments within the study population was 96%, suffering were ranging from one to five problems found in the same children. The most common minor ailments of under five children are common cold & cough (87%), (43%) diarrhea, (36%) minor injury, (29%) skin rash & minor injury, conjunctivitis (18%), constipation (12%), dental caries (11%), oral thrush (9%). For these minor ailments related problems most of the mothers in case of common cold & cough, conjunctivitis, diarrhea, skin rash were seeking treatment from doctor advice as they thought they can discuss freely. In case of worm infestation, constipation and minor injury majority mothers taken sought treatment used the different home remedies. Maximum mothers for dental caries did not seek treatment as they thought no need of any treatment for their children. In this study there is significant association between treatment seeking behavior of diarrhea with age of the child and educational status of the mother. This study can be implicated in different field of nursing such as nursing education, practice, research and administration. This study may be replicated with the large randomization sample in another setting, or comparative study can be done between urban and rural areas.

Introducción: Los trastornos afectivos son un problema de salud con un gran impacto en el funcionamiento psicosocial y calidad de vida de las personas que los sufren. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la analizar diferencias por género en la asociación entre los factores personales intrínsecos y la sintomatología depresiva y ansiosa de una población trabajadora. Métodos: Se realizaron análisis descriptivo, bivariante y multivariante de datos de 242 individuos en edad laboral activa, entrevistados entre julio de 2021 y julio de 2022. El resultado primario fue la gravedad de la sintomatología depresiva y ansiosa como variable continua. Resultados: La prevalencia de síntomas depresivos en nuestra muestra es del 22,22% en mujeres y del 6,54 en varones, mientras la prevalencia de sintomatología ansiosa fue similar en ambos sexos (21,50% en varones y 25,19% en mujeres). En varones, la alta autoestima (β = −0,300; p=0,022) y una mayor edad (β = −0,210; p=0,031) son factores protectores de sintomatología depresiva y, la alta autoestima (β = −0,269; p=0,005) y la alta activación (β = −0,031; p=0,049) en la sintomatología ansiosa. Mientras, en las mujeres, una mayor autoeficacia y un mayor sentido de coherencia son factores protectores de la sintomatología depresiva (β = −0,250, p=0,004; β = −0,244, p=0,005) y ansiosa (β = −0,254, p=0,004; β = −0,178, p=0,040). Conclusión: Las mujeres trabajadoras tienen más sintomatología depresiva y ansiosa que sus homólogos masculinos. Existen diferencias entre hombres y mujeres en los factores personales intrínsecos que influyen en los síntomas depresivos y ansiosos.
