The reflection of principles and values in worldwide organic agricultural research viewed through a crop diversification lens. A bibliometric review

Abstract: Organic agriculture and organic food have expanded in recent decades but have undergone conventionalisation. Some claim that this contradicts some or all of the principles of ‘health’, ‘ecology’, ‘fairness’ and ‘care’ established by the International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movement (IFOAM). It is currently unclear how research on organic food/agriculture is structured, whether it embraces these principles, or how key crop diversification, driving sustainability, are addressed. To fill these knowled… Show more

“…Based on previous research by Tsiotsou (2006) product quality has an influence and contributes to customer satisfaction. According to Rafaelle Oborn., et al (2023), previous research has highlighted that ordinary consumers value organic food as a source of trust. Based on the evidence from the experts, supplying higher quality food has become an important strategy to gain a competitive advantage in the restaurant industry.…”

“…The mechanisms explaining this relationship include an increase in the prevalence of beneficial insects, enhanced soil moisture retention, and differential tolerance to abiotic and biotic factors [10]. Other agricultural practices, such as mixed cropping, companion crops, catch crops, trap crops, and variety mixtures, have been reported to diversify farming systems [19] and potentially enhance crop yield stability. Investigating the implementation of these practices on farms in Colombia could reveal methodologies for improving food security.…”
