The Recalculation of the Weights of Criteria in MCDM Methods Using the Bayes Approach

Abstract: The application of multiple criteria decision-making methods (MCDM) is aimed at choosing the best alternative out of the number of available versions in the absence of the apparently dominant alternative. One of the two major components of multiple criteria decision-making methods is represented by the weights of the criteria describing the considered process. The weights of the criteria quantitatively express their significance and influence on the evaluation result. The criterion weights can be subjective, i… Show more

“…The weights are subsequently used in the FTOPSIS. In the future, fuzzy weights may be used in the FTOPSIS by adopting the methods proposed by Chang [50] and Vinogradova et al [51]. Some other methodologies, such as quality function deployment (QFD), VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje in Serbian (VIKOR) and goal question metric (GQM) approaches can also be considered in constructing a framework for evaluating information systems.…”

“…Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) allows a decision-maker to choose the best alternative out of a number of alternatives or to arrange them based on multiple criteria (Hwang & Lin, 2012;Vinogradova, Podvezko, & Zavadskas, 2018). As multiple criteria exist, it is necessary to consider how each criterion influences the final decision, how to rank them or to estimate the weights for each of the criteria.…”

“…One more paper aimed at the evaluation of weights of criteria proposes use of a Bayes approach for weight recalculation [2]. The core idea of the article is to suggest a plan for combining of criteria weights obtained by different subjective and objective criteria weight assessment methods.…”

“…The analyst then uses a method to integrate the results so that the action can be selected temporarily.Other stakeholders should align the decision on complex and strategic issues. Moreover, decision-makers should strike a balance between objectivity and subjectivity of data [2].Objectivity is often considered the basis for the evaluation of the knowledge society. Objectivity is a value.…”
