The Pulsed-Field Multiport Antenna System Reciprocity Relation and Its Applications—A Time-Domain Approach

Abstract: Abstract-A novel time-domain approach to the derivation of the pulsed electromagnetic field multiport antenna system reciprocity theorem is presented. The theorem interrelates the field and system properties in two states: the transmitting state and the receiving state. General time-domain Thévenin (voltage-source, impedance-based) and Norton (electric-current source, admittance-based) type equivalent circuits are constructed for antenna systems whose local properties are described in terms of multiport Kirchh… Show more

“…In the plots, |X| is normalized with respect to the spatial extent of the prototype power exponential pulse via |X| norm = |X|/c 0 t w and the generator source voltage V G (t) is normalized as in [5] via The numerical results are evaluated for two types of excitations: (i) a time-differentiated power exponential pulse (see Fig. 4 for the relevant receiving loop response); (ii) a time-differentiated power exponential ringing cosine pulse (see Fig.…”

“…ii The signal intercepted by a nearby located receiving antenna can be calculated using, e.g., the general framework in [17]. iii The availability of the eld quantities with (practical) arbitrary spatial and temporal resolutions is the basis for constructing TD equivalents of the radiation patterns, with [18], [19] discussing effective energy evaluation methodologies that are conducive to this end.…”

“…The method of analysis presented in this paper adopts the rigorous procedure based on the Lorentz reciprocity theorem of the time-convolution type [8]. This formulation applies the reciprocity theorem to a single antenna interrelating the global EM field quantities in the embedding with the local Kirchhoff-circuit quantities of one and the same antenna system operating in the transmitting and receiving mode [9].…”
