Abstract:The log-sum penalty is often adopted as a replacement for the ℓ 0 pseudo-norm in compressive sensing and low-rank optimization. The hard-thresholding operator, i.e., the proximity operator of the ℓ 0 penalty, plays an essential role in applications; similarly, we require an efficient method for evaluating the proximity operator of the log-sum penalty. Due to the nonconvexity of this function, its proximity operator is commonly computed through the iteratively reweighted ℓ 1 method, which replaces the log-sum t… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
