“…The changes in organ and body weights observed in the busulfan‐treated rats may be due to the damaged tissue and a functional reduction caused by high production of ROS, as well as excessive break‐down of tissue proteins by hydroxyl ions (Mohammadghasemi et al., 2008). However, results obtained from this study showed a marked decrease in testicular and body weights decline in the busulfan‐treated rats, which are in accordance with the previous report (Abarikwu et al., 2020). Reversal treatment with extract of KV significantly rescued body and testicular weights.…”

“…Indeed, the brain and the testes are markedly defenseless and unprotected from oxidative stress probably because of reduced endogenous antioxidant defense systems (Ahles & Saykin, 2007; Aitken & Roman, 2008). From this study, busulfan decreased the activities of the testicular endogenous antioxidants (SOD, CAT, GSH, and GPx) with increased testicular and neuronal lipid peroxidation markers (MDA and 8OHdG), suggesting increased testicular oxidative damage (Abarikwu et al., 2020). However, we found significant elevation of testicular SOD, CAT, and GSH accompanied by decreased MDA concentrations in rats treated with KV extract.…”
