The property of the Japanese version of the Recovery Knowledge Inventory (RKI) among mental health service providers: a cross sectional study

Abstract: BackgroundThe Recovery Knowledge Inventory (RKI) is one of the influential scales to assess knowledge and attitude toward recovery-oriented practices among mental health service providers. In the present study, we aimed to develop a Japanese version of RKI and examine the validity and reliability.MethodsWe translated RKI into Japanese by reference to the guidelines for translating and adapting psychometric scales. “…High scores indicate a better knowledge base. However, a previous study verified that the 16‐item Japanese version of RKI exhibited better reliability (Cronbach's α = .77) and validity (goodness of fit [GFI] = .93; adjusted AGI [AGFI] = .90; confirmatory fit index [CFI] = .91; root mean square error of approximation = .053) (Chiba et al, ). Thus, the total score of 16‐item RKI was used in this study.…”

“…Additionally, programs aimed toward recovery similar to those developed in the west, such as Assertive Community Treatment, Wellness Recovery Action Plan, Illness Management and Recovery, and Recovery College are widely practiced in Japan [10][11][12][13][14]. For the evaluation of practice, the psychometric properties of the Japanese version of recovery-related scales in which service users measure their personal recovery and service providers measure their recovery knowledge and attitude have been verified [15][16][17][18][19][20]. As described above, programs including personal recovery are being used.…”
