Abstract:Fe 3+ -doped g-C 3 N 4 and Fe 2 O 3 /g-C 3 N 4 composite catalysts were prepared by a simple method using melamine and ferric nitrate as precursors. X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectra, scanning electron microscopy, photoluminescence, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and photocurrent measurements were used to characterize the prepared catalysts. The results indicated that Fe 3+ was inserted at an interstitial position of g-C 3 N 4 by coordinating to N atoms, which exist i… Show more
“…Many attempts have been made to fabricate a-Fe 2 O 3 /g-C 3 N 4 composites for photodegrading organic dyes using visible light. 21,22 However, the g-C 3 N 4 /a-Fe 2 O 3 heterogeneous catalyst is not appropriate for practical use because it is difficult to remove from suspension and reuse. Magnetically separable photocatalysts have attracted considerable interest because they can be removed from suspensions easily.…”

“…Bearing these in mind, we devoted efforts to depositing ␣-Fe 2 O 3 on the g-C 3 N 4 sheets to build a composite, which may provided additional sites for the interaction with reaction gas, in expectation for designing a better catalyst. Up to now, Ye [34].…”
“…However, the high price of noble metals inhibits their practical application. Wang and Hu et al determined that the optical and electronic properties of g-C 3 N 4 could also be altered by transition metal doping such as Fe 3+ [15,16]. Fe-doped g-C 3 N 4 possesses a wider optical absorption range and better photocatalytic performance.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
