The prognostic value of the advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI) for patients with neuroblastoma

Abstract: Objective The advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI) can predict the survival of patients with lung cancer and other malignancies. However, the prognostic significance of ALI in neuroblastoma has not been reported. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between ALI and neuroblastoma patient prognosis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the data of 72 neuroblastoma patients treated between January 2014 and August 2020. ALI calculation: Body mass index (BMI) × serum albumin (ALB)/neutrophil-to-lymp… Show more

“…The amount of the infection in the human body increases with its levels [5]. Despite the fact that this illness has been treated with cutting-edge medications such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, myeloablative consolidation treatment with stem cell rescue or transplantation, and immunotherapy, many patients still have poor prognoses [6]. Endogenous metabolic waste products as well as medications and toxins are eliminated by the kidneys.…”

“…As a novel and simple serum biomarker, the ALI has been widely investigated to be a potential prognostic biomarker in multiple malignancies except for lung cancer [ 28 ], such as colorectal cancer [ 14 ], endometrial cancer [ 29 ] and neuroblastoma [ 30 ]. Nevertheless, few studies [ 24 27 ] are available on the prognostic value of ALI in gastric cancer.…”

“…Lower pre-operative BAN score became one of two significant associative factors of advanced stage disease (adjusted odd ratio, aOR, 9.20, p = 0.001). The BAN score has been proposed as a novel indicator for assessing the nutritional status and ongoing systemic inflammation response in various advanced malignancies, including oesophagal [37] and gastric cancer [62,63]. It is hypothesised that patients with low BAN scores are more prone to be malnourished, leading to worse oncological outcomes [64].…”
