Abstract. Nowadays the trends in manufacturing are aimed at exploding and using the full potential of production devices and systems. In this context, Simulation and VR tools play a key role in the evolution of such systems specially if used in conjunction. By using these tools, the present paper focused on the analyses of an iCIM 3000 system. The main goal of the paper lied on studying the possibilities of increasing the efficiency and effectivity of whole system and its individual devices. This was achieved by means of the creation of simulations and their comparison to the real system. At the same time, the results of the simulations themselves also became the basis for further and richer analyses by means of the use of VR tools that allowed a much deeper and detailed take of the whole system. The use of VR tools offered a better assessment and comprehension of the system under study what at the same time also worked as a feedback for the improvement of the initial simulations, and this by eliminating and/or improving unnecessary movements and collisions. The results of this study have a positive significance in the improvement of the system once these are implemented.

Global trends of ecology and sustainable development, safety awareness, changing legislation, and urbanization, together with the economic situation, force industry to find solutions for extending product lifecycles, while maintaining and improving machine system performance and other properties during the lifecycles. Together with these societal issues, firms are struggling with competitiveness. This chapter introduces the new Use-it-Wisely (UIW) approach to upgrading rock crushers at customer sites. The higher level problem needing to be solved concerned making upgrade delivery projects profitable and more desirable for customers, manufacturing OEMs and suppliers. The main recognized and treated bottlenecks were related to knowing the actual status of the upgrade target, communication and collaboration with stakeholders, verification and validation of upgrade specifications and an efficient information flow between the stakeholders. Augmented reality (AR), Virtual environments (VE), camera based 3D scanning, and cloud based solutions are the selected pieces of technology for solving the bottlenecks. They enable better communication, collaboration and involvement of all stakeholders, including customers, internal stakeholders, suppliers and partners. They also better enable the planning and discussing of service quality activities. Product life-cycle management (PLM) is the framework for developing and managing product related information, processes and collaboration expanding towards product middle-of-life, end-of-life, and service lifecycle management. This study is a proof-of-concept that demonstrates the potential of contributions to business model innovations and game changes for upgrading business.

Our virtual reality educational game -themed "saving the environment from the dangers of pollutions"-aims to help children aged 10-13 years in learning about pollution and its reduction. This game uses smartphone and VR Box. This edu game is designed using the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) model of the waterfall model. Assets contained in this game are obtained from the Unity Asset Store which will simulate learning techniques with several educational games. This can be seen as a development from the traditional learning method. Based on a black box test, this game runs well on the target device. On the usability test using the System Usability Scale (SUS), this game gets a score of 71.58 which is in the "good" criteria.
