“…This species was described by Lameere (1915) based on an illustration in Palisot de Beauvois ( 1819), but he later synonymized this species with P. imbricornis (Lameere 1919). The entire subfamily Prioninae of the island of Hispaniola, where Haiti is located, was recently revised by Lingafelter (2015), and none of the species known from Hispaniola are similar to the illustration in Palisot de Beauvois (1819) on which the name P. beauvoisi is based. Perez-Gelabert and Thomas (2005) noted that many of the localities in Palisot de Beauvois (1805-1821) are in error, with species of African insects being attributed to "Amérique" or "Saint-Domingue," and vice versa.…”

“…Other species, attributed to places such as "Saint-Domingue," are from localities that Palisot de Beauvois never visited, such as the South American mainland. With Lingafelter's (2015) revision of the Hispaniolan Prioninae in mind, together with the fact that the type specimen of P. beauvoisi is the only record of the genus Prionus in the West Indies, it seems likely that the "Saint-Domingue" type locality of P. beauvoisi is yet another locality error in Palisot de Beauvois (1805Beauvois ( -1821. Therefore, Haiti is excluded from the distribution of P. imbricornis.…”

“…For night-time surveys, lanterns and light traps (1,000 W, 10 m) were used to attract adults (Fig. 2C) based on the suggestions of previous studies (e.g., Lingafelter (2015) and Santos-Silva et al (2018) for giant prionine cerambycids and Byun et al (2007) and Danilevsky (2014) for C. relictus). For all C. relictus individuals found, body length and condition (including if they were dead or a living) were recorded.…”
