Methods: The total sample comprised 26,479 adolescents (12,711 boys and 13,768 girls) aged 11–16 years (mean age ± SD = 13.5 ± 1.7) from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) Portuguese survey cohorts from 1998 (n = 5,999), 2002 (n = 5,454), 2006 (n = 4,430), 2010 (n = 4,702), and 2014 (n = 5,894). “…Though PR, WBC, and platelets showed improvement in values after yoga practice, it was statistically nonsignificant. 10 Our results showed a mean reduction in fat (%), water (%), ECW (%), ICW (%), and body fat mass index (BFMI), and there were no significant changes in basal metabolic rate or fat-free mass index. Our findings also show that there is a significant positive correlation between the post-test triceps skin fold thickness and SBP.…”

“…In this study, we also conclude that the older adolescents are more likely to have sedentary behaviors. Other studies support this and also suggest that even more complex patterns are present [24]. With children aged with 11 years old, only 50% report watching two or more hours of television during the week, against 63% of those who are older [23].…”

“…Some studies have shown stability in the prevalence of overweight children in wealthier countries, such as Canada (Rao et al, 2016), Portugal (Marques et al, 2018), England (Van Jaarsveld & Gulliford, 2015), Spain (Ramiro‐González et al, 2017), Slovenia (Sedej et al, 2016), and Australia (Hardy et al, 2016). However, time‐trend data in low‐ and middle‐income countries are still scarce, and the current studies show a high overweight prevalence and its increase over the last decades, as is the case in Argentina (Orden et al, 2019), Mexico (Hernández‐Cordero et al, 2017), and Brazil (Flores et al, 2013).…”
