et al.

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) are diseases caused by the interaction of genetic and non-genetic factors. Therefore, the aim of our study was to investigate the association between six common genetic polymorphisms and T2DM and MetS in males. A total of 120 T2DM, 75 MetS, and 120 healthy controls (HC) were included in the study. ACE ID, eNOS 4a/b, ATR1 A1166C, OXTR (A>G), SOD1 +35A/C, CAT-21A/T gene polymorphisms were genotyped by PCR or PCR-RFLP techniques. T2DM was diagnosed … Show more

“…Yet, this is not a constant biochemistry result in such patients [ 93 , 94 , 95 ]. Thus, transitory hypercalcemia and even hyperphosphatemia in patients with mineral metabolism anomalies (including chronic kidney disease) and acromegaly may play an essential pathogenic role with respect to the auricular calcifications [ 32 , 96 , 97 ].…”

“…Similarly, the Losartan-treated kidneys showed normal architecture with few cellular infiltrations around glomeruli and mild degeneration of proximal (PCT) and distal (DCT) convoluted tubules and pyknotic nuclei (3.G). Renal injury scores based on microscopic assessments are listed in Table (2).…”

“…As per the last WHO report, the global prevalence of DM is estimated at 422 million incidences and 1.5 million diabetes-related deaths per year [1]. The main pathological factor driving the long-term complications of hyperglycemia lies in the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen radicals (ROS), which results from the deactivation of the antioxidative enzymes through glycation [2]. This typically triggers uncontrolled inflammatory responses that further potentiate ROS production, which eventually perpetuates the pathological condition [3].…”

“…When it comes to (oral) magnesium supplementation, it should be noted that the bioavailability of different supplements largely varies, with organic formulations having a higher bioavailability versus inorganic products [ 9 ]. In spite of a wide variety of dietary sources, magnesium deficiency is quite common in recent years, and it is linked to numerous conditions (with pathogenic loops being more or less understood so far) including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, gastrointestinal conditions, chronic kidney disease, and osteoarticular disease, including low bone mineral density and even some parathyroid conditions [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ].…”
