The Prediction of Fire Disaster Using BIM-Based Visualization for Expediting the Management Process

Abstract: As buildings become larger and more complex, fire disaster management is of great concern. A building’s fire response and/or rescue system plays a pivotal role in minimizing fire victims and loss. To improve the current fire disaster management, it is important to link building (static) information, i.e., structural elements, fire escapes, and openings, with the fire (dynamic) information. When a building fire occurs, real-time fire information is required to be effectively linked with the on-site building inf… Show more

“…The safety environment can change significantly due to the large-scale and complex nature of fires, meaning the demand for problem-solving by advanced technical support increases [8]. In addition, as the scope of disaster accidents expands and disaster patterns evolve, it is necessary to analyze and address the causes of disasters.…”

“…Based on this scenario-based application, a proposed system was demonstrated that contributes to improving rapid access to relevant information. Dahee et al proposed a BIM-based fire disaster management process that can track building and dynamic fire data simultaneously [8]. For rapid processing, Smart Fire Rescue Management (SFRM) was developed using Revit™ software.…”

“…Five-dimensional BIM involves the addition of cost dimensions to the building information model, linking the project's material and resource information to the model, allowing for real-time monitoring of changes in project costs and cost analysis and optimization [19]. Scholars have conducted much research on construction site safety management using BIM technology involving six aspects: personnel safety training [20], construction visualization management [21], safety monitoring [22], virtual construction [23], spatial conflict management [24], and site planning and layout [25]. The introduction of 4D and 5D technologies can effectively improve the efficiency of construction site management [26].…”
