The possible role of long non-coding RNAs in recurrent miscarriage

Abstract: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) is a complicated disease in reproductive medicine that impacts many families. Currently, the etiology of RM is thought to include chromosome abnormalities, reproductive tract malformations, autoimmune dysfunction, infection, and environmental factors. However, the underlying mechanisms of RM remain unknown. At present, research on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is rapidly emerging and becoming a hot research topic in epigenetic studies. Recent studies revealed that lncRNAs are strong… Show more

“…Growing evidence suggests that lncRNAs play a role during the onset as well as the progression of recurrent miscarriages by controlling the migration and invasion of the trophoblast cells. (Qin et al, 2019) (Yan Zhang et al, 2017)(Yanan Zhang & Wang, 2022. Additionally, some research has discovered that lncRNA polymorphisms have an impact on how lncRNAs are expressed (Xue et al, 2018)(P. Zhang & Sha, 2023).…”

“…lncRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II, followed by the capping in the 5′region and the polyadenylation in the 3′region ( Yang et al, 2022 ). In addition, lncRNAs are present in almost all organisms, represent a high proportion of RNAs in complex organisms, and are expressed at different levels in different tissues ( Zhang and Wang, 2022 ). The circRNAs are a new type of ncRNAs widely existed in animals and other organisms, and a special closed loop can be formed by the reverse splicing between downstream splice donors and upstream splice acceptors ( Guo et al, 2014 ).…”

“…Small interfering RNA-silenced mouse embryonic stem cells may suffer harm or even miscarry if appropriate lncRNAs are administered (109). LncRNA screening before embryo implantation can lower the chance of a failed transfer and miscarriage since lncRNAs play a significant role in controlling embryonic stem cell development (110,111).…”
