The plant circadian clock regulates autophagy rhythm through transcription factor LUX ARRHYTHMO

Abstract: Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved degradation pathway in eukaryotes; it plays a critical role in nutritional stress tolerance. The circadian clock is an endogenous timekeeping system that generates biological rhythms to adapt to daily changes in the environment. Accumulating evidence indicates that the circadian clock and autophagy are intimately interwoven in animals. However, the role of the circadian clock in regulating autophagy has been poorly elucidated in plants. Here, we show that autophagy exhi… Show more

“…Temperature changes also affect the expression of circadian clock components such as LUX . Despite these findings, the mechanism by which plant circadian clocks respond to cold stress is still not fully understood (Yang et al, 2022). But the mechanism underlying the ABA‐induced expression of circadian clock genes has not been elucidated.…”

“…ACBP3 can be induced by pathogens and is subjected to circadian regulation (Zheng et al, 2012 ). It appears plausible, yet remains to be confirmed, that ACBP3 is secreted through an autophagy‐dependent process, which is known to be subjected to marked circadian fluctuations in plants (Chen et al, 2022 ; Yang, Zhu, et al, 2022 ).…”
