Abstract:The content and composition of phospholipids in fresh and cultured guinea-pig skin have been determined. Following culture, it was confirmed that the phospholipid concentration decreased, particularly when glucose was omitted from the culture medium. There was no change in the relative proportions of the phospholipids of the skin.
Phospholipase A and lysophospholipase activities have been demonstrated in cow snout epidermis. The phospholipase A activity was dependent on Ca2+ ions and the pH for optimum activity was between 6-1 and 7-4.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
