The Philadelphia Orchestra and Robin Hood Dell

Abstract: The care and feeding of symphony orchestras is often overlooked in scientific treatises on the fauna of our larger cities. In view of the growing interest in outdoor music displayed by great masses of listeners all over the world, it may not be amiss to recount here how, in Philadelphia, the very popular proliferation known as the Robin Hood Dell Concerts grew to health and strength out of the older organism of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
