The PhD In Writing Accompanied By An Exegesis

Abstract: The position of this paper is to further the discussion on what constitutes academic assessment in the PhD by artefact and exegesis. In doing so, it explores some of the ideas that arose in setting up the PhD in creative writing at Swinburne University of Technology. Thus, I: • survey some of the questions that arise about the journeys made by the candidate, supervisor and examiner of the PhD in creative writing; • introduce discussion about what constitutes academic knowledge with particular reference to the … Show more

“…Tail elongation in the case of graduated tails may intensify such function, especially during gliding flight. Through experiments simulating the gliding flight of Common Pheasants, Arnold (2001) found that after being deflected, models with natural tail lengths regained their initial gliding positions more quickly than models with lengthened and shortened tails. Recognizing the limitations of models, Arnold (2001) conducted another experiment with live Eurasian Magpies Pica pica .…”

In this experiment, Magpies without tail manipulations glided over longer distances and at lower speeds before having to switch to flapping flight.…”

“…With bibliographic and discographic inquiries, it provides the necessary scientific procedure for music composition research that deals with existing creative works and onward composition of intended artefacts. As Arnold (2005) puts it, such thoughts offer a new and dynamic understanding of the intellectual and cultural debates regarding knowledge that can be addressed without subordinating one conventional model to another.…”
