The Pharmacological Tails of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Their Inhibitors

Abstract: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been demonstrated to have both detrimental and protective functions in inflammatory diseases. Several MMP inhibitors, with the exception of Periostat®, have failed in Phase III clinical trials.
