Platforms are important actors in contemporary cultural economic processes. They include social network sites, online content management systems, streaming media platforms, mobile communication infrastructures, supply chain logistics solutions, and cryptocurrencies. Analysis of platforms and their capitalization should take into account the ways they structure social practice as assets and the constitutive opacity of platforms as configured realities. It explores capitalization by focusing on the problems of counting people and things on platforms. Via a case study of the software repository platform [Github.com] (https://github.com), it analyzes how 'platform numbers' participate in capitalization. It describes attempts to enumerate the elements of the platform by counting, mapping or listing them. The paper shows how attempts to enumerate people and things encounter forms of association, duplication, combination, imitation and configuration that are crucial to the ensemble but remain refractory to capitalization. It proposes configurative enumeration of the platform numbers as a way of conceptualizing these un-enacted excesses. In a configurative enumeration, the composition, the rhythms of imitation, variation and commutation, and constant relating, repairing and adjusting of configurations crucial to the ongoing formation of platforms come into view. Configurative enumerations engage the inventive realities of platformization, realities that precede and sometimes overflow their capitalization.

Middle Aged Man in Lycra (MAMIL) is a cultural phenomenon associated with a gendered and conspicuous practice that can be inclusive by attracting individuals not previously engaged in physical activities as well as exclusive due to its gender and socio-economic conformity. Inspired by the works of Linda Hutcheon and Judith Butler, we argue that the MAMIL is an ironic figure constituting a complex and multifaceted character deeply embedded in a particular cultural context. By analyzing a TV advertising spot for Tour de France 2021 which embraces the MAMIL, the purpose of this study is to illustrate how ironic communication is productive as it leads to multiple performativities of irony. We identify four performativities in the spot which are: Irony as a way to cope with an aging male body; Irony as a way to identify with competitive elite sportsmen; (Self-) irony as enabling an exclusive male community and masculinity through humor; and Irony as legitimizing mass media consumption of cycling. We argue that the irony reaches beyond a mere humorous stance and serves a legitimizing and preservative function of road cycling as a male-dominated terrain.

A Study on “Double-subject” Teaching Mode of Sport Statistics Course

Sport Statistics is an important applied subject in physical education field. Traditional teaching cannot meet its teaching demand. As a result, teachers are difficult in teaching and students are difficult in learning. Thus, it is very necessary to combine Sport Statistics with network teaching. In this study, the students of sports specialty were chosen as the objects of study, and “double-subject” teaching mode was used to teach Sport Statistics. Sport Statistics was combined with network course, and a new Web-based online courseware making platform system was applied. Besides, a network course quality evaluation model was constructed, and the evaluation was conducted from 7 aspects: teaching content U1, teaching design U2, course resource U3, page design U4, technical force U5, teacher as the subject U6 and user experience U7. It is found that “double-subject” teaching mode can significantly improve the teaching effect of Sport Statistics, motivate students’ learning interest, promote students’ oral expression ability, generalization and summarization ability, and self-learning ability, and enhance students’ ability to analyze and solve problems.
