“…The copepod Pareuchaeta elongata (Esterly) is synonymous with Euchaeta elongata Esterly, E. japonica Marukawa or Pareuchaeta japonica (Marukawa) (Campbell 1934;Tanaka 1958;Park 1995), and is distributed in mid-water of the Okhotsk Sea, Bering Sea, Japan Sea and probably the entire North Pacific (Brodskii 1950;Park 1995). P. elongata is a typical carnivore, and exerts considerable predation pressure on other copepods (Yen 1983;Greene et al 1985;Ohman 1986).…”

“…However, Park (1995) transferred this species to the genus Paraeuchaeta based on the following characteristics; female appendicular caudal setae short and geniculate; male leg 5 with blunt spine on distal exopodal segment. P. russelli (Figure 9) was originally described from the Great Barrier Reef by Farran (1936) (as E. russelli), and also recorded from the northeastern coast (Mori 1937 as E. daitomarui), the Izu region (Tanaka 1958, Tanaka andOmori 1968) and Sagami Bay of Japan (Park 1995). This species commonly appears in the southeastern region and East/Japan Sea of Korea waters between August and November.…”

“…These marks occasionally looked like a semicircular projection but are easy to discern. E. plana (Figure 9) was originally described from the East China Sea (Mori 1937) and continuously found in Izu region of Japan (Tanaka 1958), the Arabian Sea (Sewell 1947, as E. murrayi), the Malay Archipelago and off southern and central coast of Japan (Park 1995). This species commonly appears in the southeastern region and the East/ Japan Sea between March and November.…”
