The pathogenicity ofAspergillus fumigatus, drug resistance, and nanoparticle delivery

Abstract: The genus Aspergillus includes fungal species that cause major health issues of significant economic importance. These microorganisms are also the culprit for production of carcinogenic aflatoxins in grain storages, contaminating crops, and economically straining the production process. Aspergillus fumigatus is a very important pathogenic species, being responsible for high human morbidity and mortality on a global basis. The prevalence of these infections in immunosuppressed individuals is on the rise, and ph… Show more

“…Although this study focused on polymorphisms in genes cyp51A and fks1, there is also increasing research on non-cyp51 (Zakaria et al, 2020) and non-fks1 (Szalewski et al, 2018) genetic changes. Future exploitation of genomic data on strains of A. fumigatus and closely related species could also exploit these additional genes.…”

“…Aspergillus fumigatus is an important and deadly pathogen to humans. They are the dominating cause of aspergillosis, responsible for high human morbidity and mortality on a global basis . Besides this, they are also used to produce a large number of industrial enzymes, organic acids, and pharmaceuticals .…”

“…Additionally, some pathogenic contaminations contained in the biological EcM material may also provoke severe immune rejection and foreign body response in preliminary xenografts (7). They are divided into two major categories: Viral particles/elements and salmonella (8). The former is particularly problematic in terms of xenozoonoses, including brucellosis, leptospirosis, and tularellosis.…”
