The pathogenetic role of vitamin D and vitamin D-binding protein in the development of urinary tract infection in children

Abstract: Background. The aim of the research was to study the content of 1,25(OH)2D3 and vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) in the blood serum of children with urinary tract infections, taking into account the clinical form of the disease, and to determine their pathogenetic role in the development of urinary tract infections. Materials and methods. The study groups consisted of 84 children (mean age — 10.0 ± 1.3 years). The main group was divided into subgroups: the first one — 17 children with acute pyelonephritis, the … Show more

“…23 Hyperglycemia, glycosuria, polyuria, weight loss, coma, and even death are typical symptoms of diabetes. 24 The most prevalent categories of DM are insulindependent DM (DM type-I), non-insulin-dependent DM (DM type II), and gestational diabetes in cases of expecting mothers. 25 DM type-II is the most common since it has a significant global impact on blood sugar because of high insulin resistance in adipose tissue, muscles, and the liver as a result of reduced insulin production from pancreatic cells.…”
