The Papyrus from the ‘Musician’s Tomb’ in Daphne (MΠ 7449, 8517-8523)

Abstract: The author explores the evidence for the earliest Greek papyrus discovered so far (430/425 bc). It was unearthed as part of a collection of writing implements along with musical instruments in a tomb in Daphne in 1981. She attempts to situate the available evidence in context, by investigating how it could be mapped onto the framework of papyrological research and its contemporary literary and cultural milieu.
