“… 6 , 9 With targeted and reproducible synthetic routes, it is nowadays possible to obtain tailor-made POM systems, including organic–inorganic hybrids and other nanocomposites, with enhanced biological properties. 10 17 The foundation for the research of biologically active POMs has been laid in 1970, when Chermann et al discovered the inhibitory effect of silicotungstic acid on murine leukaemia and sarcoma viruses. 18 This led to systematic studies of the antiviral effect of this and other POMs revealing that enzyme inhibition ( e.g.…”

“…Although the number of POM studies with anticancer effects is increasing, their mechanisms of action in each type of cancer cell are still far from being understood [3]. The antitumor activity of these inorganic compounds seems to be caused, at least in part, by the inhibition of certain enzymes such as alkaline phosphatases, kinases, ecto-nucleotidases, glucosidases, and P-type ATPases [5][6][7][8]. Moreover, some POMs are also understood to interfere with mitochondria function and DNA, while others can exert an immunomodulatory activity [9,10].…”

“…According to our previous work, the main chemical reaction of vanadium extraction in the roasting process [18] is illustrated in Equation (5). It can be inferred that the essence of vanadium extraction with roasting was the conversion of vanadium-bearing magnetite to hematite, and the crystal transformation relationship of vanadium-bearing magnetite (FeO(Fe,V) 2 O 3 ) to hematite (α-Fe 2 O 3 ) is illustrated in Figure 6.…”

“…Vanadium is an important rare metal that plays important roles in the steel, aviation, chemical, battery, medicine, and other industries due to its superior characteristics [1][2][3][4][5]. China's vanadium resources mainly exist in two forms: vanadium-containing shale and vanadium-titanium magnetite [6].…”
