Prostaglandin E(2) (PGE(2)) is a major prostanoid with a wide variety of biological activities. PGE(2) can influence blood pressure (BP) both positively and negatively. In particular, centrally administered PGE(2) induces hypertension whereas systemic administration of PGE(2) produces a hypotensive effect. These physiologically opposing effects are generated by the existence of multiple EP receptors, namely EP(1-4), which are G protein-coupled receptors with distinct signaling properties. This review highlights the distinct roles of PGE(2) in BP regulation and the involvement of specific EP receptor subtypes.

Abstract. Wireless power transmission (WPT) technology can solve the energy shortage problem of the video capsule endoscope (VCE) powered by button batteries, but the fixed platform limited its clinical application. This paper presents a portable WPT system for VCE. Besides portability, power transfer efficiency and stability are considered as the main indexes of optimization design of the system, which consists of the transmitting coil structure, portable control box, operating frequency, magnetic core and winding of receiving coil. Upon the above principles, the correlation parameters are measured, compared and chosen. Finally, through experiments on the platform, the methods are tested and evaluated. In the gastrointestinal tract of small pig, the VCE is supplied with sufficient energy by the WPT system, and the energy conversion efficiency is 2.8%. The video obtained is clear with a resolution of 320×240 and a frame rate of 30 frames per second. The experiments verify the feasibility of design scheme, and further improvement direction is discussed.

This paper presents an inductive coupled wireless power transmission (WPT) system for powering an endoscopic robotic capsule. The proposed WPT system was designed and optimized through manipulation of the core material, the quality factor (Q) and the load impedance matching of the receiving coil (RC). A MnZn ferrite core with high initial permeability was employed. The Q of the 3D RC was optimized by choosing an optimum number of strands and turns. At the optimum design condition the system was able to deliver at least 376 mW of usable power to the load when magnetic field (H-field) of 105 A/m was applied at the frequency of 250 kHz. The uniformity of H-field generated by the power transmitting coil (PTC) was sufficient to achieve 86% stability of received power. The proposed system reduces the required level of H-field by 50% and increases the load power by 22.3% as compared to the existing study.Index Terms -Wireless power transmission (WPT), robotic capsule endoscopy, inductive coupling, quality factor (Q), 3D receiving coil.
