Abstract:Hallux valgus is one of the more common complaints for patients presenting to a foot and ankle clinic. The open distal chevron osteotomy has been a successful and widely used treatment option for symptomatic patients with a mild to moderate deformity. In this paper we will review the evidence with a focus on recent publications, our indications and contraindications, technique, results, and potential complications of the procedure.
