“…Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), which is an atypical serine/threonine protein kinase, serves as the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K)‐related kinase family and forms two kinds of different complexes named mTORC1 and mTORC2 (Okamoto et al, ). Nuclear factor‐kappa B (NF‐κB), a ubiquitous and momentous transcription factor with various stimulants including growth factors and cytokines, which can control the expressions of a variety of genes referring to immune responses (Miller et al, ; Zhu, Yue, & Wang, ). Ahmad et al () also showed that NF‐κB pathway could function as a key central pathway interacting with various downstream and upstream signaling pathways, including the mTOR pathway.…”

“…TNFα, an activator of NFκB, induced Tudor-SN expression [ 14 ]. NFκB is a ubiquitous transcription factor involved in cell proliferation and differentiation [ 42 , 43 ]. Our previous study found that Met and E triggered NFκB1 phosphorylation and enhanced the binding of p-NFκB1 to the Stat5 gene promoter (data not shown), and in this study we also validated the interaction of p-NFκB1 and Tudor-SN gene promoter.…”

“…Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) may regulate phagocyte activation via the induction of cytokine production. 13 Khan et al 14 studied the time course of the effects of 10 and 50 nm diameter naked GNPs on the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1 beta (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), in the liver and kidneys of rats. In the liver, the GNPs of both sizes (10 and 50 nm) significantly increased cytokine gene expression on Day 1, which subsided by Day 5; however, the 50 nm GNPs produced a more severe inflammatory response compared to the 10 nm GNPs.…”
