Norwegian bare singulars revisited

“…This reveals an interesting fact: in addition to phrases that clearly have a singular count interpretation and phrases that clearly have a mass interpretation, there are many indefinites that are hard to categorize as either one. Similar observations have been made by Halmøy (2016). This questions the very premise that bare singulars constitute an interesting category on their own -which in turn means that there are probably no constructions (or grammar rules or principles) that license bare singulars specifically in Norwegian.…”
