The New Police Training System: Psychological Aspects

The article analyzes the specifics of coping strategies for overcoming stress used by people who perceive the atypical situations of forced isolation, including the COVID-19 pandemic, in a different way. An empirical study conducted with the use of corresponding psychodiagnostic techniques (Extended Life orientation test; SACS) found that people who are optimistic about restrictions and atypical life situations are prone to use assertive actions and enter into social contacts. Whereas people who are pessimistic about the future have a less pronounced tendency to seek social support. The study confirmed that proactive coping in atypical life situations (including forced isolation) is associated with the relevant individual psychological characteristics, which are important for motivating social activities. Such personality expressions can contribute to the implementation of proactive coping and they are key factors in the pre-actional phase of goal-setting because proactive people focus not on the obstacles, but on solving problems. It is also suggested that proactive instructions can be a resource that enhances an individual's desire for a higher standard of living.

The Role of the Institute of Medical Law in the Postmodern Society

The development of a postmodern society, oriented on the implementation of various kinds of reforms, gives rise to the newer branches of law. The medical law, which serves for a defining sphere of public administration in the field of health care, is not an exception since the life and health of citizens are an integral part of Ukraine's national security. That is why it becomes relevant to provide administrative and legal characteristics of the genesis of medical law into the legal system of Ukraine. The aim of the study is to substantiate the necessity to introduce a medical law institute into the legal system of Ukraine. The empirical basis of the study relies on a survey of 350 health care professionals to determine the relevance of establishing a medical law institute and its structural elements. It was established that the sub-institute (sub-branch) of medical law is a structural element of the law system, which is a separate part of the relevant sphere (branch) of law, regulating the respective groups of public relations in the field of health care. It was proved that the subinstitute (sub-branch) of medical law is a set of homogeneous social relations that regulate health care activities and comprehend providing a full range of quality medical services on the basis of the current legislation.

Professional Psychological Profile of a Modern Patrol Officer as the Basis of Efficient Official Activities

In today's conditions of reforming the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, it becomes relevant to study the psychological aspects of the professional activities of the National Police officers in the context of the fulfillment of their professional duties. The task of improving the psychological support of patrol police units is of particular importance. The aim of the study is to develop and substantiate the professional psychological profile of a modern patrol officer. On the basis of an empirical study, in which 290 police officers of the National Police of Ukraine participated, the main components of the psychogram of a patrol officer, which form a generalized professional psychological profile of a modern police officer, were identified. Having applied theoretical and empirical methods (the analysis and generalization of scientific literature, observation, questioning, psychological diagnostics, expert interrogation, mathematical statistics, and experiment), the theoretical principles of studying the professional activity of patrol officers, the requirements for their knowledge, skills and individual psychological characteristics were outlined. A number of valid multifactorial psychodiagnostic techniques were applied, in particular, in order to study the level and structure of intelligence; to explore creativity; to investigate the features of nervous processes; to identify the character and temperamental features; to study the features of interpersonal interaction. The study determined a list of professionally important qualities that are required for mastering the profession of a patrol officer, as well as psychological contraindications to acquiring this profession.
