The new nuclei162Os and156Ta and theN=84 alpha emitting isomers

Abstract: Abstract:The reactions 58Ni + 102pd-, 160W and 58Ni + 106Cd-~164Os were investigated to search for new decay data of neutron deficient nuclei. Excitation energies of the compound nuclei covered a range from 47 to 89 MeV. Velocity separation of the evaporation residues and position time correlations with the a decays of the implanted nuclei were used. The following new decay data were measured: 162Os (E~ = (6611 4-30) keV, T, A = (1.94-0.7) ms); 158W (Tv2 = (0,94-0.3) ms)" 158mW(E = 1.88MeV E_ = (82804-30) keV … Show more

“…The Q value and half-life estimates are presented in Table II. Table I and values from the literature [5,[46][47][48][49][50][51][52]. The half-life values were calculated using the method of Rasmussen [45], assuming s-wave emission and a reduced width equal to that of 212 Po.…”

“…Another α line with an energy of 7.78 MeV and a half-life of 0.52 ms has been assigned to the decay of an isomeric state in 156 Hf [5]. The isomeric state was populated in the β decay of the [πh 11/2 νf 7/2 ] 9 + state in 156 Ta, and, as a result, it was assigned the [νh 9/2 νf 7/2 ] 8 + configuration in analogy to lighter N = 84 isotones [14]. In the present experiment, prompt γ -ray cascades were correlated with both 156 Hf α lines.…”
